If you're looking for guys who enjoy their work, you'll find them in Devon and Bill. The work they do may be dirty, but they have made the choice to have fun while they're working and it shows in the big smiles on their faces. We're proud to introduce these guys to you and let them show you how they're using their heavy-duty MAXX-D dump trailer to get work done.
WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
We are Devon Brozek and Bill Carlson with Terra Shapes from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING?
We do all things excavation and construction. Primarily dirt work, demolition, logging, and land clearing but we do it down to septic systems, sewer lines, and utilities. We also build houses. We do custom homes and remodeling.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
We got started just recognizing a need in our area and me (Devon) just having that background in excavation and doing a lot of aspects of it. For several years I was doing other things but then I just saw there was a good niche that needed to be filled here. I got started by buying a used machine from an auction and had it dropped off on my first job and basically, we went from there. I relied on a lot of our network - we live in a tight community, a place where there's still a good sense of community so we have friends and people that we’ve worked with for years that have given us a lot of work. We do good work and we do good by them, and that’s what’s kept us going.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WHAT YOU DO?
My favorite part of what I do is the pride and freedom that comes from owning your own business along with the responsibility that we have and the satisfaction we get out of helping people and doing a good job.
HOW DOES YOUR MAXX-D TRAILER HELP YOU GET WORK DONE?
My trailer helps me get work done by offering me a tool that fills a gap in the excavation and construction world. There are only a couple of tools that fill it and your trailer is one of them. It’s a lot heavier duty than most of your standard dump trailers so I take out a lot of concrete and move dirt out of tight spaces downtown. We can haul a really good amount of heavy-duty material out with that trailer and it's heavy-duty enough that we can haul a small piece of equipment in the trailer to get to the job. I never worry about it lifting or dumping.
WHAT MAXX-D DEALER DID YOU BUY FROM?
I bought my trailer from Trailer Boss in Spokane. It was a good experience, nice dealership and they have a good inventory in stock. They’ve got a lot there to choose from, you can show up and find what you need and you’ll be on your way.
A HEAVY-DUTY TRAILER FOR HEAVY-DUTY WORK
The trailer that Devon and Bill use is a MAXX-D DHX Super Heavy-Duty Dump Trailer. This beast can haul equipment as easily as it can haul soil and debris, and thanks to its 20k scissor lift hoist, you can get it all done with the DHX.
Devon and Bill, thank you for sharing your story with us. We love that your values include doing good work and doing right by the people who hire you. You are truly providing for your families with dignity and honor and we're proud to be a small part of that.
