This Blue Collar Hauler found a one-size-fits-all trailer that he uses for everything from hauling hay for his cattle to transporting heavy equipment. We'd say he made a good choice in the YHX. Creed and his family are great examples of entrepreneurs who haven't put all their eggs in one basket. His diversification of income streams is impressive, as is the legacy he's inherited.
Let's get on to Creed's story!
WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I'm Creed Stone and I'm from Big Bear, CA.
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING?
We do a multitude of different things: property management, ranching, farming, tree removal and weed abatement, construction and rehabs on houses, and welding building fences and pole barns.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I'm the third generation of the real estate side of it and 7th generation cattle family in San Bernardino county and the Big Bear mountains. My stepdad has helped me with real estate and is making sure that I'm learning the business and learning from his mistakes so hopefully I don't endure some of the same pains. The ranching side of things comes from my father and mother and growing up on a little ranch in Idaho, then moving back to California where we run about 400 head of mother cows on the mojave desert.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WHAT YOU DO?
I like that I'm not cooped up in a box doing the same repetitive, monotonous thing, day after day. My office views change from day to day. Sometimes it's in the cab of my pickup hauling cows other times I'm in the office on a computer. Sometimes I'm on the back of a horse gathering cattle. I also do some snow plowing in the mountains during the winter to help make ends meet.
HOW DOES YOUR MAXX-D TRAILER HELP YOU GET WORK DONE?
The trailer helps me because it is heavy-duty enough to haul all of the equipment that we own. We have a Mecalac 8 MCR, an e85 Bobcat excavator, a Kubota tractor, a Unimog, and some other pieces of equipment. Also we haul hay and other feed supplies and building supplies for jobs and the cattle.
WHICH MAXX-D DEALER DID YOU BUY FROM?
Gingrich Trailer Sales in Ohio. They were very easy to work with. I called them they said they had the trailer in stock. I gave them a credit card number and it was a very easy transaction. The hardest part was me getting from California to Ohio to pick it up. Overall, the experience with the a dealer was great.
DIVERSIFIED AND THRIVING
Creed, what a story, man! We love how you're learning from your folks, combining your experience with ranching and real estate and your love for classic cars to build a life you can be proud of. And buying a trailer in Ohio and driving it home to California? That's rad. We look forward to touching base in a few years and seeing what new things you're up to and how your trailer is serving you.
The trailer Creed uses is the MAXX-D YHX 40K Hydraulic Dovetail Gooseneck Flatbed Trailer.
