At MAXX-D we champion the family business and are always excited to share about Blue Collar Haulers who are setting examples for their kids. Well, in Cruze's case, his dad and uncles set the stage for him and now he's doing the same for his own kids. Talk about a legacy of hard work and service.

Let's get on to Cruze's story.

WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I’m Cruze Northrup co-owner of C.K.N Outdoor Services, located in Whitmore Lake, Michigan.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING?

We offer excavating on new and existing sites, grading, landscape/hardscape, and concrete flatwork along with decorative design. We deliver landscape materials and offer scrap and trash removal. Servicing Livingston and Washtenaw Michigan since 2014.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?

I got introduced to excavating at a young age growing up around my family's business, Northrup Boys Asphalt Paving and Excavating. My father David Northrup, Ken, and Donald Northrup instilled motivation, dedication, and drive to work for our family business at a young age. Northrup Boys has since closed due to two deaths in the family. I teamed up with a relative in 2022 after the passing of my father.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WHAT YOU DO?

I love setting my own pace and putting a smile on a customer’s face with the end result of a completed project! I also enjoy spending time with my daughter (4) twin sons (2) stepson (9) and my fiancée Julia and making great food and memories.

HOW DOES YOUR MAXX-D TRAILER HELP YOU GET WORK DONE?

Our MAXX- D, DKX-14 allows us to make deliveries all over Livingston and Washtenaw County and comply with Michigan winter frost laws to continue to make business relationships year-round when our big trucks cannot enter the roadway. The gate system is great for dumping in tight spaces.

WHICH MAXX-D DEALER DID YOU BUY FROM?

We purchased our trailer from Great Lakes Trailer Sales in August 2024. My overall experience was easy fast and convenient. I plan to purchase another equipment trailer from them in the near future that can double as a hot shot setup!
